What Materials Are Best for a Pool Patio in Maryland?
First up, let’s get the notion of “best” pool patios out of your mind right away. When we’re talking design and build projects for your Maryland home, it’s not about what’s best. In fact there is no objective best. There is only what you want, what you need, and what is best for you.
The vast majority of patios are going to be built out of pavers–but the term paver doesn’t necessarily denote any specific material type (even though they are most commonly associated with concrete). So what are your options for paver pool patios? Well, there’s a bunch:
- Brick. Brick is your “classic” option, but don’t get stuck thinking you’re necessarily stuck with the reds and browns you’re used to. Brick is available in a wide array of colors, and can be easily shaped into unique designs for a nice, unique pool patio.
- Concrete pavers. We tend to consider paver pool patios to be a blank slate sort of project, and concrete makes the perfect tool. Concrete is durable, versatile, cost-effective, and easily one of the most customizable options out there. It’s also super low-maintenance, too!
- Natural stone. Natural stone is quarried and delivered, offering a luxurious and natural look for your patio space. There are loads of options, from slate, to terrazzo, to flagstone; there’s an option for anyone! Not to mention natural stone is built to last, offering more longevity than any other material we offer.
- Permeable pavers. Permeable pavers are less of a specific stone material and more of a feature, really, but they’re paired with paver pool patios quite often. Permeable pavers allow for natural water flow and drainage during rain, making it an ideal option for homes that deal with slopes or water draining issues.
