Custom Paver Patio Installation for Homeowners in Montgomery Village, MD

Four Seasons Landscaping has spent more than two decades turning ordinary Maryland backyards into finished outdoor rooms, and Montgomery Village homeowners are next on our list. We’re a family-owned design-build company, which means one team follows your paver patio from the first sketch through excavation, base compaction, and the final paver placement — no handoffs, no guesswork.

Think of a patio as the most adaptable square footage you can add to a Montgomery Village property. It hosts the grill on a Saturday, holds a few chairs for a quiet evening, and anchors whatever comes next in the yard — a fireplace, a pergola, an outdoor kitchen. We design around how your family actually spends time outside, then engineer the base to stay flat and solid through the region’s freeze-thaw cycles.

If “paver patio installers near me” is what brought you here, you’ve landed in the right place. Contact Four Seasons Landscaping today to schedule a free consultation for your Montgomery Village patio.

Paver Patios We Build in Montgomery Village, MD

Every yard calls for a different layout. Here’s what we’re most often asked to build for homeowners in this part of Montgomery County:

Patios Built Around the Dinner Table

Laid out around your table and seating so guests can move freely, oriented to balance sun exposure with shade, and connected by a clear path to the kitchen for easy back-and-forth during a cookout.

Fireside Lounge Layouts

An open, informal layout with seating angled toward a fire pit or built-in fireplace, keeping the space usable well into fall and extending the patio’s season past just summer.

Terraced Patios for Sloped Lots

For yards with a slope or homeowners who want the patio broken into separate zones, we design multi-level layouts using retaining walls and steps that follow the natural grade rather than fighting it.

Walkway, Step & Landing Tie-Ins

Matching or complementary paver walkways, steps, and landings that tie the patio into the driveway, front walk, pool area, or garden beds so the property reads as one cohesive design.

Outdoor Living Spaces, Start to Finish

Since the patio typically sets the foundation for everything else, we plan it alongside fire features, outdoor kitchens, pergolas, seat walls, and landscape lighting as one integrated project rather than separate add-ons later.

Why Montgomery Village Homeowners Choose a Paver Patio

Most homeowners weighing a new patio end up comparing pavers to a standard poured slab. In Montgomery County’s climate, pavers hold up better on nearly every point that matters long-term:

Built to flex, not fracture.

A concrete slab is one solid piece, so when the ground shifts during winter freeze-thaw cycles, it cracks. A paver patio is made of hundreds of individual units over a flexible base, which lets it settle with the ground instead of splitting.

A single paver can be swapped out — no full-slab repairs.

If a paver stains, chips, or you need access to a utility line below the surface, we lift and reset only the pavers affected. A concrete slab can’t be spot-repaired the same way — every patch is visible.

A wider range of looks than a poured slab allows.

Between brick, tumbled stone, large-format pavers, and natural stone, there’s a range of colors, textures, and patterns that a single gray slab simply doesn’t provide.

Engineered joints keep water moving, not sitting.

The joints between pavers combined with a properly engineered base help drainage, cutting down on the pooling and erosion issues that flat concrete slabs tend to develop over time.

A patio that adds resale value.

A well-installed paver patio reads as a finished living space rather than an afterthought, and it’s consistently one of the outdoor upgrades that helps a home stand out in the Montgomery County market.

Two decades installing patios in this county.

Two decades of installing patios throughout the area means we already know the soil conditions, drainage patterns, and permitting requirements specific to Montgomery Village projects.

Our Paver Patio Installation Process in Montgomery Village, MD

The pavers you see are the easy part — what happens underneath is what determines whether your patio stays flat for decades or starts sinking and shifting within a few years. Here’s how we approach every project.

1. Site Visit & Design Planning

We come to your Montgomery Village property to assess the space, note the grade and drainage flow, and talk through how you plan to use the patio. You’ll leave the visit with a defined layout and a project estimate.

2. Picking Material & Layout Pattern

Together we select the paver style and laying pattern — running bond, herringbone, basket weave, or another option — that fits both your home’s exterior and your budget.

3. Excavation & Site Grading

We dig to the proper depth and grade the base so water flows away from your foundation rather than toward it. Rushing this step is the leading cause of patios that fail early, so we don’t shortcut it.

4. Laying the Engineered Base

A compacted crushed-stone base — typically 4 to 6 inches, deeper where soil conditions call for it — goes in in layers, topped with a leveling bed of sand. This base is what actually determines the patio’s lifespan.

5. Installing the Pavers

Every paver is set by hand in the chosen pattern, with even joints and precise cuts along edges and curves.

6. Restraints, Sand & Joint Lock-In

Edge restraints keep the perimeter pavers from spreading over time, and polymeric sand goes into the joints, hardening to resist weed growth, insect activity, and shifting.

7. Final Compaction & Site Cleanup

We compact the completed surface for a tight, level patio, clear the site of debris, and walk the finished project with you, including maintenance tips to keep it looking new.

Paver Materials We Install

  • Concrete pavers — the most budget-friendly option with the broadest range of colors and shapes
  • Clay brick — a classic look that holds its color for decades
  • Natural stone (flagstone, bluestone, travertine) — a premium, one-of-a-kind surface
  • Polymeric joint sand — resists weed growth and joint shifting over time
  • Compacted crushed-stone base — the structural layer that supports drainage and long-term stability

Paver Patio FAQs for Montgomery Village Homeowners

How much does a paver patio cost in Montgomery Village, MD?

Paver patio cost in Montgomery Village depends on square footage, the material you choose (concrete pavers, brick, or natural stone), site prep and drainage requirements, and any added features like steps, seat walls, or a fire pit. Straightforward concrete-paver patios fall at the lower end of the range, while larger natural-stone or multi-level designs run higher. Four Seasons Landscaping provides a customized estimate after a free on-site consultation; typical project budgets range from $10,000–$20,000 up to $50,000 and above.

Are pavers better than concrete for a patio in Montgomery Village?

For Montgomery County’s freeze-thaw climate, pavers are generally the stronger long-term choice. A poured concrete slab is rigid and cracks as the ground heaves; a paver patio flexes with the ground, individual pavers can be replaced if damaged, and it offers significantly more design flexibility. Concrete can cost less upfront, but pavers typically win on durability, repairability, and long-term appearance.

Can you build a paver patio on a sloped or uneven yard in Montgomery Village?

Yes. Sloped and uneven lots are common throughout the Montgomery Village area, and they’re one of our specialties. We use grading, steps, and retaining walls to build multi-level patios that work with the existing slope, often turning an awkward yard feature into the best part of the design.

How long does paver patio installation take in Montgomery Village?

Most residential paver patio projects in Montgomery Village take several days to about two weeks, depending on size, site conditions, drainage work, and any added features. Excavation and base preparation take up the bulk of that time because they determine how well the patio holds up. We’ll give you a firm timeline as part of your estimate and keep you updated throughout the build.

Doug and his team at Four Seasons are excellent! Four years ago, Doug designed an entirely new front walkway plus all new shrubs and trees. Within the first year, it grew beautifully and today, it is stunning. We were so pleased, we’ve gone back to Doug two more times. Two years ago to fill in an area in our backyard that lost so many trees over the years due to storms — it is a lovely oasis in our backyard today. Then less than a year ago, another storm took out a few of our front yard trees and Doug planted a new bed of replacement trees. The landscaping looks so good, the delivery people even comment on it! We keep going back to Doug because he creates beautiful designs with high quality products. Plus his team does excellent work. We highly recommend Four Seasons!

"I feel like I'm at the W" That was a quote from one of our friends when they first saw our new patio that Four Seasons Landscaping built for us. This is the second time I've used Four Seasons Landscaping to install a patio at a house we've owned. Their work is TOP NOTCH. Doug and his artisans transformed a poorly designed patio into a backyard oasis. As can be seen from the before an after photos, we went from having a limited and cluttered outdoor living space to one where we now entertain year round. We have an expanded pool deck with Travertine tiles that stay cool in the summer with lounge seating on once side and firepit that seats 10-12 off the other. We now have a brand new outdoor kitchen on a raised patio off the main kitchen in the house. Additionally, a second raised landing was installed to provide a walkout from our sunroom which leads to an outstanding fireplace on the main patio area (All flagstone). At our most recent holiday party, everyone who saw the patio thought it was gorgeous. Tastefully and thoughtfully laid out with amazing craftsmanship. Many said that it felt like they were at a resort. If you are looking for someone that takes pride in their work and does it with the utmost care and attention to detail, I would highly recommend Doug and Four Seasons Landscaping for your next project.

It was a pleasure working with Doug and his crew on our daughter's large hardscaping project--a larger front stoop, a new and longer retaining wall, beautiful, lighted steps and a front patio. The entrance to their home went from narrow and downright dangerous to welcoming and gorgeous! Doug was creative and flexible throughout the project as our ideas and vision evolved (our daughter requested non-invasive/native-if-possible plants), and his suggestion to create a patio space in front and add lighting to the steps for safety was inspired. His crew was communicative, reliable, and did top-notch work. We also had them seal a patio in back and improve drainage, and plant a tree to commemorate our grandson's birth. Although the original plan called for new plantings, we decided to add perennial flowers for now and complete the planting vision at a later time. We have had many experiences with contractors, good and bad, and Four Seasons Landscaping & Nursery was among the BEST we have ever used!
